Golf and Photography Trip Lofoten Links with Jacob Sjoman

When Swedish photographer Jacob Sjoman drove to Lofoten a few years ago, he had no idea that he would capture one of the world's most famous golf course photos there: the signature hole of the Top 100 golf course Lofoten Links, the par 3 on the 2nd hole, with the Northern Lights in the background. Today, almost every golfer knows this picture – and Sjoman belongs to the absolute world elite of golf course photographers. Frode Hov, CEO of Lofoten Links, considers September to be one of the most beautiful travel times for his homeland – then you can enjoy the golf course and have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights in the evening.

On this trip, we combine the golfing experience of Lofoten Links and the dreamlike landscape of the Norwegian archipelago with a photography workshop. None other than Jacob Sjoman himself will give participants tips on golf course, nature, and (if nature cooperates) Northern Lights photography. Therefore, bringing your own photographic equipment is expressly desired – whether it's a smartphone, a drone, or of course a camera. Sjoman will give participants tips on the right image composition during the golf rounds on selected fairways, in conversations on the sidelines of the trip, and during joint excursions.

Day 1: Journey to Navrik

You will be travelling to Frankfurt Airport on your own. In the morning, you will fly directly from Frankfurt to Narvik with Discover Airlines. The transfer to the Lofoten Links golf course takes place in a modern, air-conditioned coach. Here you move into your rooms for four nights - all participants stay in the lodges of Lofoten Links, which also offer excellent opportunities for observing the Northern Lights with their glazed living areas. After a welcome drink, you will have dinner together. Here you will meet Jacob Sjoman, who is leading the photography workshop. He will teach you the basics of golf course and aurora photography.

Day 2: First Round of Golf - Kvalvika Beach - Reine

After breakfast, start for the first round of golf. During the round, Jacob Sjoman will give you valuable tips on how to best capture a golf course photographically. After an individual lunch break, drive to Kvalvika Beach and visit the beautiful fishing village of Reine. Joint dinner near the golf club. If Northern Lights are expected this day, a photo workshop with Jacob Sjoman will take place at the Lofoten Links facility after dark.

Day 3: Henningsvaer - Troll Fjord

After breakfast, you will first drive to Henningsvaer for a city walk and then depart from Svolvaer for a mini-cruise into the Troll Fjord. With a bit of luck, you can observe sea eagles and whales. After the return trip, joint dinner. The same applies today: if Northern Lights are expected, we will conduct a corresponding workshop in the evening.

We also ask for your flexibility in the evening, because if Northern Lights are expected on this day, we will offer all interested participants another opportunity for guided photography.
