How is a forgiving putter created?

Mallet putters in particular have been built for years with the highest possible moment of inertia to make the club more forgiving. A high moment of inertia is intended to ensure that the club face does not open when the ball is hit off-centre and that the ball runs straight ahead despite the "poor" strike.

In order to generate a maximum MOI value, "High-MOI" mallet putters are designed with a particularly low centre of gravity, i.e. the weight far behind the club face and far outside. With the help of computer simulations, Cleveland Golf has now found out for the first time that a club with a high MOI substantially stabilises the club face, but the low centre of gravity still exerts a lateral force on the ball and deflects it out of direction.

Cleveland Golf's tests have shown that the least amount of deviation on an off-centre strike is caused by a head with a high MOI and a centre of gravity as close to the club face as possible. To achieve this, two tungsten weights were inserted into the club face, which shifted the entire 47.3g weight and thus the centre of gravity of the club close to the club face.

According to Cleveland Golf, a 4.5m putt can be made with a Frontline putter at the same rate as a 3m putt with a conventional putter head!

Forgiveness thanks to weight in the club face

• Using a state-of-the-art injection moulding process, a full 47.3g of tungsten was positioned at the height of the club face. In this way a centre of gravity is achieved very close to the club face. By placing the tungsten far out, the MOI of the club head is also kept high. The result is the easiest to use putter Cleveland has ever made.

Speed Optimized Face Technology – SOFT

• To ensure that off-centre strikes not only run straight ahead but also run as far as an optimum contact, the Frontline putter was equipped with SOFT technology. The forged aluminium club face generates a constant speed over the whole club face thanks to the specially machined surface.

4 head shapes with 2 hosel options

• The Frontline series offers the right head model for every type of player. Both larger mallets and a classic blade are available. Thanks to the different hosels, both players with a straight and a light bow will find what they are looking for.

A premium grip for a premium putter

• All Frontline putters are equipped with the high-quality Lamkin Sink Fit Pistol grip. The soft rubber grip with its comfortable size ensures an optimum feeling from the first grip. In combination with the elegant black shaft, the grip perfectly completes the modern stealth look.
