Extremely lightweight, XCOR2 helps to reduce the mass of the core. This allows more weight to be placed at the bottom and edge of the back of the club head, dramatically increasing MOI and forgiveness. Combined with our ultra-thin face technology, XCOR2 improves C.O.R. for extreme face deflection and out-of-sight ball speed. Power Channel Technology Power Channel Technology is a proprietary U-shaped corridor machined into the inner face of the clubface to increase deflection and bend at the top of the clubface. The channel creates movement on the clubface and transfers energy to simultaneously increase launch angle, trajectory and ball speed. Precision Weighting Technology The GEN5 irons feature five tungsten heel and toe weights and a large weight located near the center of gravity at the back of the club head. The large center weight can be used to achieve an optimal swing weight. Customers can try Precision Weighting Technology during a personal fitting with a PXG Fitting Specialist. The weights cannot be adjusted after purchase. 5X FORGED Each iron is forged five times from soft 8620 carbon steel, creating a tight grain structure that increases strength, extends groove life and improves overall feel and appearance. Milled Back Surface Milling the back of each iron is a high-precision process that reduces wall thickness more than would be possible through forging alone to achieve a high-performance body design and improved aesthetics. Ultra-Thin Face Since the beginning of PXG, our brand has had the thinnest clubface in golf. Our ultra-thin face technology is a breakthrough in the industry and continues to deliver unmatched feel and superior performance on miss-hits. Combined with our proprietary XCOR2 technology, GEN5 irons deliver our highest C.O.R. performance to date. Made from high-strength HT1770 maraging steel and with a thickness of only 0.058" (~1.55mm). Xtreme Dark PXG's stunning Xtreme Dark irons are manufactured using an advanced process called Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coating. DLC creates a hard, graphite-like, carbon-based coating that significantly extends the life of our Black Label irons and wedges. Unlike the typical black PVD coating used by other manufacturers, DLC is a three-layer process that includes a chrome base, a medium carbon chrome layer and a high carbon top layer. a high-carbon top layer with a thickness of approximately 3/25,000 inches. This provides exceptional wear resistance and a flawless appearance without compromising the club's performance in terms of ball response. The DLC coating is currently used in fuel injection systems and drilling and has a number of other promising applications due to its superior abrasion resistance. PXG's Xtreme Dark Finish is the first application of black DLC coating technology in golf. The GEN5 irons come standard with a chrome finish and feature Xtreme Dark accents around the heel and toe perimeters.
