Callaway's Mavrik fairway wood is designed for confidence and extra long shots from the fairway.

With the Mavrik wood, Callaway heralds the next generation of woods developed with the help of artificial intelligence. A new, even more powerful super computer was used to calculate thousands of club face configurations and determine the best one. A separate club face has been calculated for each wood and thus represents a true revolution in the development of golf clubs. The result is a club face that generates maximum ball speed for both centre and off-centre strikes and is optimally adjusted to the respective ball flight characteristics of the individual lofts. From the development of the previous year's model Epic Flash, decisive conclusions could be drawn to improve the new Flash Face SS20 significantly – especially in case of poorer strikes!

Technologies:

Flash Face SS20

• By using artificial intelligence, the new Flash Face SS20 is the optimum shape to generate the highest possible ball speeds. Compared to the previous year, especially off-centre strikes were optimised in this version to provide additional forgiveness.

Forged C300 Maraging Steel club face

• The Mavrik fairway woods are equipped with a forged club face made of C300 Maraging Steel. This high-strength material ensures particularly high ball speeds and provides optimum feedback at the moment of impact.

Progressive leading edge geometry

• A newly developed leading edge, the lower edge of the club face, makes it much easier to get under the ball. In combination with the flat club head design, this club offers a very confident setup position. This allows for better ball strikes, resulting in a steeper launch angle and significantly more length.

T2C carbon crown and optimised sole weighting

• The used T2C carbon crown has a much lighter construction. The weight saved has been strategically positioned for a higher moment of inertia, increasing the club's forgiveness. For this purpose a fixed weight has been attached in the head in order to position the centre of gravity as low as possible and to generate a high launch angle.

Jailbreak and Face Cup technology

• The Jailbreak technology allows for a particularly high efficiency and ball speed due to less deformation of the club head. Two titanium rods mounted vertically behind the club face counteract the deformation and prevent energy loss upon impact. Thanks to the Face Cup technology, even off-centre strikes lose much less speed. This is possible thanks to the particularly high trampoline effect of the Face Cup.
